Team India stoped Proteas from their first ever ODI series win in India!

Ultimately Team India stopped the Proteas to win the ODI series in India. Nice show by Team India. Rahul Dravid led from the front with a gritty unbeaten 78 as India shrugged off the Eden Gardens humiliation with a five-wicket win over South Africa in the fifth and final cricket one-dayer and level the one-day series 2-2 in Mumbai on 28th of November. The credit should also be given to Irphan Pathan. After restricting the visitors to 221 for six on a difficult batting track, Dravid anchored his innings brilliantly to guide the team to victory with 15 balls to spare and prevent South Africa from recording their first-ever one-day series in India. This guy has improved a lot. Yuvraj Singh has also shown some brilliant show in this series.

Brilliant show by our team no doubt, but I think proteas also played way below their potential. The half chances dropped by the usually sharp SA fielders proved costly in the end. Once again dew factor played its part. Batting in the Indian innings suddenly became easier. Ultimately it all boils down to the toss; whoever wins it is obviously going to field first, which reduces cricket to a game of chance.
Why wasn't Andre Nel penalized for abusing the batsmen? I am pretty sure that if it had been an Indian bowler, he would certainly have been penalized! When the white players indulge in such acts, it is condoned as due to their spiritedness, but the same act committed by Asians is considered punishable. Remember Veeru et al being suspnded for a test match for overzealous appealing in the Johannesburg test , while Micheal Slater got away scot free for the same act against Umpire Venkatraghavan during the famous 2001 Indo-Aussie series in the first test at Bombay? How is it that only Muralitharan, Bhajji, Shaoib Akhtar etc get no balled for suspect actions while Brett Lee gets away scot free? Is it because Malcom Speed & Malcom Gray are Aussies?
A week ago, there was a hard hitting article by Sunny Gavaskar regarding the cribbiness of English Press. So far, the British media has not offered any "Excuses" (Spin friendly pitches, Bad accomodation, poor umpiring etc !)for their team's defeat v/s Pakistan as is their wont when playing in the sub continent. Or have they finally swallowed the bitter pill that the subcontinental players have it in them to beat the hell out of England? Even the British Ladies team's not far behind in cribbing. They were heard complaining about their so called shabby accomodation. Were thay aware that they are going to be beaten by our ladies and thus preparing in advance for their excuses? Ex captain Anjum Chopra retaliated nicely by reminding the British women's captain about the lousy boarding provided to our ladies during the world cup in Britain.
